Neo classic labels such as the extremely successful Erased Tapes label showed how modern classic music might look like today. Artists such as Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds, Lubomyr Melnyk, or A Winged Victory For The Sullen inspired us with their genre-defying sound, bringing together classical modernism with electronica.
So, it’s no big surprise, that the neo classic label Neue Meister teamed up with the Deutsche Kammerorchester Berlin to start a thrilling concert series NEUE MEISTER at the Drive-Volkswagen-Group-Forum. The label Neue Meister (a sub-label of Berlin Classics records) is responsible for the artist selection und curation. The artists will then perform with the awesome Deutsche Kammerorchester.
The NEUE MEISTER event does not only bring some super talented musicians on the stage, who perform with the fantastic Deutsche Kammerorchester Berlin, but also pays close attention to the different backgrounds of the performing artists. Over the last year, we saw and listend to a bunch of amazing artists, such as Henrik Schwarz, Johannes Motschmann, Max Richter, Paul Frick, Federico Albanese, Fabian Russ, Christian Jost, Matthew Herbert, Fazil Say, Gilad Hochmann, Ben Palmer, Arash Safaian, Sebastian Knauer, Gregor Schwellenbach, Francesco Tristano, and John Kameel Farah.
One of these artists was on the stage last Sunday. John Kameel Farah worked with the infamous Terry Riley and describes his music as Maximalismus. He performed a beautiful track of his upcoming LP “Time Sketches”. The track is called “Behold!” and tells the story about a sea creature that is leaving the sea… Well, if you want to know what will happen next with the sea creature or if your just interested in John Kameel Farah’s sound, you should listen to his upcoming LP (should be released sooooooon…) or visit the release concert at the Volksbühne Berlin on the 16th of April. Highly recommended! We will be there for sure ;-)
